Indiana The Hoosier State Our page has photos of the quilt blocks that were uniquely designed or chosen to represent the state of Indiana in our Nifty Fifty Quilt Swaps. Indiana's name means "Indian Land". Indiana is known as the Hoosier State which is derived from the frontier saying "Who's here?" Indiana is well known for its major sports teams and universities.
